As part of Sunderland Counci’s plan to become carbon neutral by 2030 this building acts as an electrical vehicle charging hub for the council’s fleet of vehicles, utilising a large array of roof mounted solar PV panels and a battery storage unit.

The renewable systems were part of the wider Mechanical and Electrical installations carried out by Gemini for Esh Construction.

An export management control system was also installed to ensure the council consumed all of the energy generated by the solar panels to in turn maximise the benefits and efficiency of the system.
